  2. My Great Grandfather was in Butte from 1902-3 to 1906.He was one of some Pittsburgh men running the Pittsmont smelter. They tried new smelting technologies.Anyone left out there that may have some Pittsmont stories. They were far from town and had a boarding house

  3. I figured this asking about Pittsmont would be long shot.Several Years ago I sent copies of pictures I had to Butte Archives.I am sure it was all business at Pittsmont. Thanks to all the hard working men who worked in this dangerous business.I have found pictures of them on Montana Memory Project, amazing pictures.... Quite a period in history

    1. You may get better response if you can ask in the Facebook Group, "You know you are from Butte, America, if..." - https://www.facebook.com/groups/228745273834840/

    4. No problem,Richard. I really doubt there are any personal stories written about men and womens time at Pittsmont.I do know there was a social club formed out at boarding house there.Supposely there were game rooms, books, meeting places. These Pittsburgh men came with up and down relations with workers. The assay office looked very Victorian,no pics taken in boarding house.I would love to time travel back there

  6. Anyone know anything about 128 east park in butte?? I found a picture of "the council" and the back bar looks very similar to the one we have in our new pub from the anaconda area! Anyone know if the bar was sold or still at this location?

    1. 128 East Park was demolished long ago; no telling where the bar went if other than the dump. Remember that many bars were very similar (and were also modified over the years) so it would take a lot of good detail to compare to show that one is the same one.

  7. I feel like I am chasing a ghost! Cannot find any informaton on the Internet. This is what I do know.. It was purchased back in 2007 and brought to Iowa. The bar was taken out of Red's Bar in Anaconda. No idea if it was originally at this location or moved or taken out of an abandoned building to sell(No record of Red's bar in anaconda that I have found about the bar existing) It's a beautiful bar and just want to find out the story.

    1. Good luck - because bars are so similar, it's really a challenge to pin things down with certainty.
